DigitalOcean manages Weaviate engine version upgrades on Managed Weaviate clusters. You do not choose or schedule a target version in the Control Panel.

Automatic Upgrades

DigitalOcean upgrades the Weaviate engine on a managed cadence. New clusters are always provisioned on the latest supported version.

During an upgrade, DigitalOcean applies a newer Weaviate release to your cluster. The cluster may be briefly unavailable while the upgrade completes. Plan upgrades during a maintenance window if your application cannot tolerate short connection interruptions.

You cannot downgrade a cluster to an earlier Weaviate version through the Control Panel or API. The weaviate_version field in cluster configuration is platform-managed and is not writable through the Update a Vector Database endpoint.

You can confirm the running version from the cluster’s Overview page in the Control Panel or by reading the weaviate_version field in the cluster’s config object from the Get a Vector Database API endpoint.
