VDI

A virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) is a system of desktop virtualization that hosts desktop environments on a centralized server.

We use virtual machines (VMs) to manage the virtual desktops hosted by VDIs.

Custom images support VDI format.

This community tutorial explains how to use VirtualBox, a free and open-source virtualization tool, to create a DigitalOcean-compatible VDI image (VirtualBox Disk Image) from an Ubuntu 18.04 ISO. You can adapt the steps in this tutoiral for your preferred distribution’s ISO images.
