A role is a set of permissions granted to users on a team.

A user’s role on a team determines the actions they can perform on that team’s resources across the DigitalOcean platform (within the control panel, API, and CLI). A user’s role on a team, therefore, also defines which scopes they can grant to API tokens they create on that team.

Each team member has a role which determines their permissions on the team. Permissions grant varying levels of access to the team’s shared resources, billing information, and settings.
