Read-Only Node

A read-only node is a replica of the cluster’s primary node.

By accessing a read-only node, latency is reduced when connecting to different geographical regions. The communication between the primary and read-only nodes is sent over the public network and is SSL-encrypted.

DigitalOcean allows you to add a read-only node to your PostgreSQL cluster, which reduces latency for users connecting to additional geographical regions.

The read-only and primary nodes have SSL-encrypted communication over public networks.
