Grammar

  • Use title case for headers, titles, and link titles.

  • Use sentence case for items in bulleted and numbered lists.

  • For companies, organizations, software, and similar things, use the capitalization of the project.

  • Use exclamation marks very sparingly.
  • Use hyphenated compound modifiers, unless the adjectival phrase includes -ly.

  • Use suspended hyphens.

  • Spell out numbers less than 10 and numbers that begin sentences.

  • Use numerals if a number is paired with a unit of bits/bytes, for currency, and in ranges.

Periods

  • Use a single space to separate sentences.

  • If the items in a bulleted or numbered list are sentences themselves or are a continuation of the sentence that introduced the list, then use a period at the end of item. If the items are nouns, then do not use a period.
