How do I implement daily Droplet backups?

Droplet backups are scheduled on a weekly basis and are retained for four weeks. Currently, it is not possible to change the frequency of backups or manually initiate them.

While you cannot change the frequency of Droplet backups, you can create a snapshot of your Droplet at anytime using the control panel or the snapshot action via the Droplet actions API endpoint. Snapshots create an image of your Droplet that you can use to create new Droplets from. For example, if you create a snapshot of your Droplet at 11:00 AM on Monday, you can create new Droplets from that snapshot and each one will be a near identical copy of the original Droplet at the state it was in at 11:00 AM on Monday.

You can also set up daily backups using DigitalOcean’s SnapShooter service. To use SnapShooter, add the service to your team using our Marketplace.

You can recover your Droplet if you have taken a snapshot of the Droplet or signed up for automated backups.
Destroying a Droplet destroys the backups along with it. You’ll want to preserve your backups first.
You cannot currently download DigitalOcean backups or snapshots, but you can use third-party tools to save your data locally.
