# Can I change my Droplet's backup schedule and frequency? When you enable backups for a Droplet, you can choose an interval of every 4 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, day, or week. You can also customize the backup window, which is a 4-hour window of time during which the Droplet automatically initiates a new backup. For weekly and usage-based backups, this also lets you choose a day of the week for your backups. As an alternative, you can also [use SnapShooter to automate taking snapshots of Droplets](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/snapshooter/how-to/back-up-droplets/index.html.md). SnapShooter offers a customizable backup frequency and retention policy. ## Related Topics [Can I restore individual files or directories from a snapshot or a backup?](https://docs.digitalocean.com/support/can-i-restore-individual-files-or-directories-from-a-snapshot-or-a-backup/index.html.md): The only way to restore files from an image is to recreate a Droplet or volume from the image and copy the flies from there.
