# Weaviate Reference (public)

DigitalOcean Managed Weaviate is a fully managed Weaviate vector database for retrieval-augmented generation, semantic search, and similarity-based AI workloads. Clusters are provisioned, secured, backed up, and patched by DigitalOcean.

## The DigitalOcean API

The [DigitalOcean API](https://docs.digitalocean.com/reference/index.html.md) lets you manage resources programmatically with standard HTTP requests. All actions available in the control panel are also available through the API.

Use the Vector Databases API to provision and manage Managed Weaviate clusters, including creating clusters, retrieving credentials, resizing, and managing backups. See the [Vector Databases API reference](https://docs.digitalocean.com/reference/api/reference/vector-databases/index.html.md).
