# Weaviate Limits (public)

DigitalOcean Managed Weaviate is a fully managed Weaviate vector database for retrieval-augmented generation, semantic search, and similarity-based AI workloads. Clusters are provisioned, secured, backed up, and patched by DigitalOcean.

When you create a cluster, review the public preview disclaimer and [Managed Weaviate public preview terms](https://www.digitalocean.com/legal/managed-weaviate-public-preview) shown in the create flow.

Managed Weaviate is in [public preview](https://docs.digitalocean.com/platform/product-lifecycle/index.html.md#public-preview). APIs, SKUs, regions, and Control Panel elements may change before general availability. [Public preview releases](https://docs.digitalocean.com/platform/product-lifecycle/index.html.md#public-preview) may not be suitable for production workloads.

## Public Preview Limits

The following limits apply during the [public preview](https://docs.digitalocean.com/platform/product-lifecycle/index.html.md#public-preview):

- SKU pricing, regional availability, and SLAs may change before general availability.
- Use preview clusters for development and evaluation when possible. Evaluate production suitability against your workload requirements.
- You can use the Control Panel to create, connect to, resize, restore, fork, tag, monitor, and rotate credentials for clusters. You can also use [`doctl vector-databases`](https://docs.digitalocean.com/reference/doctl/reference/vector-databases/index.html.md) for many cluster operations. Listing plans, listing clusters, polling cluster status, retrieving credentials, updating cluster configuration, listing backups, and deleting clusters also require the API.
- Resizing is upgrade-only. You can resize from `small` to `medium` or `large`, and `medium` to `large`. Downsizing isn’t supported. For resize guidance, see [How to Resize Weaviate Clusters](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/vector-databases/weaviate/how-to/resize/index.html.md).
- On-demand backups are not available during public preview.
