# Secrets Manager Pricing

DigitalOcean Secrets Manager provides a central place to store and manage sensitive values used by applications running on DigitalOcean.

DigitalOcean Secrets Manager uses usage-based pricing for stored secrets and successful secret retrieval requests. Each billing account receives a monthly allowance. Usage above each allowance is billed at the following rates.

All prices are in USD. The same rates apply across supported regions. Allowances apply once per billing account each month across all projects and regions.

## Secret Storage

One secret stored for a full billing month equals one secret-month. Storage for part of a month is prorated based on the time the secret is stored. Prorated usage is combined before the monthly storage allowance is applied.

Each named secret resource counts as one secret, regardless of the number of key-value pairs it contains. Retained versions incur no additional storage charge. Updating a secret or reverting to an older version does not create an additional billable secret resource.

The allowance is based on storage usage, rather than a limit of 25 secrets. For example, 50 secrets stored for exactly half a billing month consume 25 secret-months and remain within the storage allowance.

## Secret Retrieval Requests

Successful secret retrieval requests count toward the monthly request allowance. Requests above the allowance are billed proportionally at $0.05 per 10,000 requests, without rounding usage up to whole blocks of 10,000.

Management operations, failed requests, and internal platform operations do not incur retrieval charges.

The storage and retrieval allowances apply independently. You can incur retrieval charges while remaining within the storage allowance, or storage charges while remaining within the retrieval allowance.

## Example Monthly Bill

If you store 1,000 secrets for a full billing month and make 1,000,000 successful retrieval requests, your charges are:

## Payment Requirements

Secrets Manager requires a credit card on file to create secrets, including when usage remains within the monthly allowance.
