DigitalOcean Secrets Manager provides a central place to store and manage sensitive values used by applications running on DigitalOcean.

DigitalOcean Secrets Manager is available in public preview to all DigitalOcean customers. You can also create secrets in the `ams2` and `sfo1` datacenters, which the availability table does not list.

## Access and Permissions

Secrets Manager access is managed at the team level. Permissions apply to the team’s secrets rather than individual secrets.

Team members with the **Owner** or **Member** role have full Secrets Manager access. The **Modifier** role has `secrets:read`, `secrets:create`, and `secrets:update` access. The **Resource Viewer** role has `secrets:read` access.

Custom roles support the following permissions:

| Permission | Access |
|---|---|
| `secrets:read` | Read secrets and their values. |
| `secrets:create` | Create secrets. |
| `secrets:update` | Update secrets. |
| `secrets:delete` | Delete secrets. |
