DigitalOcean accepts the following payment methods:
Credit and debit cards. You can set credit and debit cards as your primary payment method. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit cards.
Credit and debit cards from India need to be enabled for international transactions. Cards issued by Citibank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, IndusInd Bank, RBL Bank, Axis Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank are less likely to be declined than other banks.
PayPal. We accept pre-payment using PayPal but you cannot use it as your primary payment method.
We do not accept virtual, electron, or prepaid cards.
You can add, modify, and remove credit and debit cards on the Billing page. In the Payment methods section, click the Credit / Debit Card tab.
To add a new credit or debit card, click Add card to open the Add a Card window.
In the window that opens, fill in the card information, then click Save Card.
When you have more than one card added to your account, you can designate which one should be billed by default. You can either check the box next to Make this my default payment method when you add a card, or you can open the … menu of any card and click Make Default.
To update the information for an existing card on your account, open the … menu of the card and click Edit to open the Edit Card window.
Make any necessary changes and then click Update Card Information.
To remove a credit or debit card, click the … menu of the card, then click Delete. In the Confirm Delete Card window that opens, click Delete to remove the card. You cannot remove a card if it is the default payment method for your account.
We do not offer refunds. If there are extenuating circumstances, contact support.
If there is an outstanding balance on the account, your updated card will be charged within 24 hours. Otherwise, your card is charged at the end of the monthly billing cycle.
There are many reasons why a card may be declined, but banks typically don’t pass this information along to DigitalOcean. It is also not unusual for a card to work in some situations and not others. We recommend that you contact your bank. They should be able to tell you more about the declined payment and root cause.
