# Signup Credit

When you create your first team, DigitalOcean automatically applies a $5 signup credit. No promo code is required. The credit is visible in the Control Panel’s top navigation bar as a **Signup Credit** balance. The credit balance updates as you pay for resources.

The following conditions apply to the signup credit:

- Signup credits expire 90 days after signup.
- The credit applies to all products except SaaS Add-Ons.
- You must add a [valid payment method](https://docs.digitalocean.com/platform/billing/manage-payment-methods/index.html.md) before you can create Droplets or other resources.
- You cannot transfer signup credits to other teams.
- Signup credits are subject to DigitalOcean’s [Promotional Credit & Discount Terms](https://www.digitalocean.com/legal/promotional-credit-discount-terms).
