Creating an App using the API

In addition to creating a Droplet from the NethServer 1-Click App using the control panel, you can also use the DigitalOcean API. As an example, to create a 4GB NethServer Droplet in the SFO2 region, you can use the following curl command. You need to either save your API access token) to an environment variable or substitute it in the command below.

curl -X POST -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
         -H 'Authorization: Bearer '$TOKEN'' -d \
        '{"name":"choose_a_name","region":"sfo2","size":"s-2vcpu-4gb","image": "nethesis-nethserver-7"}' \
        "https://api.digitalocean.com/v2/droplets"

Getting Started After Deploying NethServer

During droplet creation please choose “Password” in “Authentication” section.

NethServer can be configured using the Server Manager web interface.

You need a web browser like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to access the web interface at port 9090 using the droplet IP address: https://server_ip:9090.

To access the Server Manager use the root user with the password chosen during the droplet creation phase.

If you didn’t choose a root password during droplet creation, access the system using SSH on port 22.

You can now set a password for the root user to access Server Manager. To set the root password, use the passwd command and follow the instructions on the screen.

Finally, access the Server Manager and access using root user the chosen password.

Please note that created droplet does not have any SWAP configured. If you wish to add the SWAP see How To Add Swap on CentOS 7.
